Fred Ross Scholarship

The Fred Ross Scholarship was created to acknowledge the remarkable career of the painter Fred Ross and to recognize his deep interest in helping artist of the future.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Fred Ross Award the artist must be a final year student in a New Brunswick high school, and be actively pursuing post-secondary education in the visual arts or fine crafts.

Amount

$4,000 total ($2,000 per year for two years)

The Miller Thomson Foundation ScholarshipThe Miller Thomson Foundation Scholarship encourages and promotes the attainment of higher education in Canada for individuals who have demonstrated a high level of academic achievement, have made a positive contribution to their school through involvement in extracurricular activities and have made significant contributions of time and energy to community service programmes. 
EligibilityOnly students attending a Canadian secondary school, currently in their final year of high school, and who will be attending a post-secondary institution in the Fall to pursue a course of study within Canada leading to a degree or diploma from the accredited community college or university of their choice. Applicants must obtain a Secondary School Diploma.

New Brunswick Community College Entry Scholarship

One scholarship is available for each New Brunswick high school. 
This scholarship is only available in the year for which it was granted.

Eligibility

All Anglophone and Francophone high school students accepted at any New Brunswick Community College and Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick campuses are eligible.

Amount

$500 at the beginning of the academic year,

$500 at the beginning of the second semester upon successful completion of the first semester.

Entrance W. Garfield Weston Award

One scholarship is available for each New Brunswick high school. 
This scholarship is only available in the year for which it was granted.

Eligibility:

  • be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • be entering his or her first year of full time college studies in the fall of 2012 in a program recognized as eligible by the college and the W. Garfield Weston Awards;
  • have a minimum average of 75% in courses required for his or her college program of choice.

Amount

$1,000 - $500 at the beginning of the academic year, $500 at the beginning of the second semester upon successful completion of the first semester.

The Louise Russo Youth Awards

The Louise Russo Youth Awards recognize youth who exemplify “the 3R’s” Respect, Responsibility and the Role of leadership – to help reduce violence in their communities.  The Award celebrates personal qualities that make our communities a safe places to live, learn and play.

Eligibility:

  • be between the ages of 9 and 19
  • presently enrolled in an Elementary of Secondary School Program
  • have made a difference in the community

Dialogue New Brunswick Scholarship

Dialogue New Brunswick fosters understanding, respect and appreciation between English-speaking and French-speaking New Brunswickers.

Dialogue New Brunswick is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a grade 12 student who will have graduated high school within the Anglophone Sector of the New Brunswick Department of Education as well as a $1,000 scholarship to a grade 12 student who will have graduated high school within the Francophone Sector of the New Brunswick Department of Education.

Eligibility

  • grade 12 students who are currently enrolled in a New Brunswick high school
  • can demonstrate acceptance in a post-secondary institution are eligible

Bell Aliant Pioneers of New Brunswick Chapter 51 Scholarship Foundation Inc.

The Bell Aliant Pioneers of New Brunswick Chapter 51 Scholarship Foundation Inc. is a non-profit charity which was formed in 1995 by members of the Pioneer Volunteers to help young New Brunswickers with physical or mental disabilities pursue education beyond the high school level. Each year, the Foundation awards scholarships to students who have plans to obtain their first degree or certificate program after high school completion.

Eligibility

  • Must have a physical or mental disability
  • Must be a resident of New Brunswick
  • Must be graduating from high school in the year of application or have completed high school in past years and who have not yet completed any further educational programs beyond high school

The TD Scholarship

The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership rewards students who have shown leadership in many areas including environmental cleanup, the promotion of social justice, and the fight against child poverty, to name just a few.

Eligibility

Scholarships are open to students across Canada who:

  • Are in their final year of high school, or CEGEP (in Quebec)

  • Have demonstrated outstanding community leadership

  • Obtain a minimum overall average in their most recently completed full year of school of 75%

Amount

Each scholarship is valued at up to $70,000 and includes:

  • Up to $10,000 for tuition per year

  • $7,500 a year toward living expenses

  • Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or the equivalent

  • Plan to enroll full-time, without interruption, for the entire 2012-13 academic year at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the U.S., Canada or Puerto Rico
