Weather & Temperature

Weather and Temperatures

In Canada, we have four distinct seasons, so we know weather!  We love to talk about it all the time. Although Canadian weather and temperatures might seem extreme, we know how to enjoy each and every season to the fullest!

Each month of the year brings opportunities for unique outdoor activities. Since Fredericton has many parks and forests, our fall season is spectacular (September through November). As the leaves turn colour, natural displays of vibrant shades of red, yellow and orange are everywhere you turn. A warm jacket and layered clothing are always a good idea.

In the winter months (December through March), we see plenty of snow and temperatures range from about 2C to -12C. This is a great time of the year because we get to go skiing or skating outside, or snuggle up under a blanket for a beautiful horse-drawn sleigh-ride through winter wonderlands. A warm coat, insulated boots, gloves, scarf and a hat are essential. Many people wear lightweight undergarments to add an extra layer of protection.

The spring months (April and May) can be unpredictable, but people love to head outdoors to watch trees starting to bud, enjoy maple syrup and observe returning migratory birds. You’ll need a mix of light clothing, a raincoat, and a sweater for cool mornings.

Summer (June through August) is beautiful in New Brunswick, with temperatures from 11C to 26C, and sometimes as high as 37C. This is the time of the year people enjoy our many lakes and rivers, or long stretches of warm ocean beaches.  Walking or bicycling around town will help you discover our beautiful scenery. Wear light clothing, T-shirts, shorts and dresses, sandals and comfortable walking shoes. You may want a sweater or light jacket for evening. And don’t forget to pack your swim suit!

Your weather just got better.
