Travel Tips
Before you leave home, don’t forget:
· Your Passport and Visa. You must have a valid passport and study permit throughout your stay in Canada.
· Carry important official documents on your person while travelling; it’s a good idea to have photocopies of everything in your luggage.
· Make sure you have your Study Permit approval letter available so you can show it to Canada Immigration officials when you land in Canada.
· There is no currency exchange desk at the Fredericton Airport so you should exchange some of your money into Canadian dollars before you leave home. We recommend having about $100 in cash and some traveler’s cheques or a credit card. Once here, you can exchange the rest of your money for Canadian currency in Fredericton at any one of our national banks, where the best rate of exchange can be obtained.
· Your luggage should be identified in English, with a Fredericton address (you can use our College address if you don’t yet have a local one).
· It would be wise to have all your important documents translated into English before you arrive here.
· Make sure that you must have travel insurance from your home country to cover you while you travel to Canada.
· Dental work can be expensive in Canada and it’s not completely covered by the College’s health insurance. It might be wise to have a dental check-up before you leave home.
· If you wear glasses and contact lenses, make sure you bring an extra pair just in case you lose them or break them. The same goes for any special medication you might have to take for a specific health condition.
