December 2011

  • Best wishes for a wonderful Holiday and a Happy New Year from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design.
  • Instructor Linda Kelly and Photography Graduate Rachael Flett's two-person exhibit titled Rooted/Uprooted, Miramichi, 1953 opened December 1st. in the Annex Gallery (located in The Playhouse). The show will be up until January 16th, 2012.
  • Tracy Austin and Sherry Kinnear currently have an exhibit in the College Gallery titled Illusion. The show will be up until January 16th, 2012.

  • Kristianne LeBreton currently has an exhibit at Gallery 78 titled Unforgotten. The show will be up until December 23rd.

October 2011

  • October 13th was the official Opening of the Barracks Building. All were welcome to enjoy live music, Picaroons, snacks and artwork by students, alumni & staff.
  • Photography student, Emily Jackson, won a spot in a national contest put on by Canadian Geographic and the National Capital Commission. Read an article about it in The Daily Gleaner here.
  • The Fashion Design studio recently traveled to King's Landing to tour the village and learn how 19th Century people lived. Here is a photo from their adventure.
  • The 'Roadsworth' book launch and artist talk took place, October 6th, in the Soldiers' Barracks. Books are available in the College Store if you would like a personal copy.
  • Karen Burk's exhibit of personal ceramics, "Seems Like It's All Fish And Flowers", opened at Gallery 78 on October 6th and will run until October 30th.
  • Adam MacDonald's exhibit of recent drawings, "Boneyard Blues", opened at Ingrid Mueller Art + Concepts on September 30th and will run until October 18th.
  • The Fredericton Fall Craft Show was held over the weekend, October 1st & 2nd, at the Capital Exhibition Grounds.

  • Your Student Council Representative team for the school year, 2011-2012 has been decided! 
  • The exhibit, "Obscura: Confessions of a Pinhole Photographer", created by Drew Gilbert opened September 29th in The Gallery.
  • Enrolment numbers are up this year!
  • Jewellery & Metal Arts Studiohead Brigitte Clavette and Instructor Kristyn Cooper were interviewed for an article featured in MAGazine. Read about it here.
  • On Saturday, September 10th, an Orientation Gathering was held at UNB on the Mackay Promenade to welcome Aboriginal Students to the start of their educational journeys.
  • Ars De Centum opened Friday, September 9th, celebrating over 100 Bachelor of Applied Arts Graduates.

  • During Aboriginal Awareness week, students form our Aboriginal Visual Arts program showcased their artwork in the Brookside Mall. View the announcement here.

  • Congratulations to our 2011 Graduates! Read an article about the ceremony here.
  • Drawing The Myth opened June 11th at the Harbinger Gallery in Waterloo, ON, and features jewellery by Brigitte Clavette. The exhibit will run until July 9th.
  • Jewellery and Metals Arts Studio Head Brigitte Clavette was interviewed in the following article.
  • Alumni, Greg Klassen, recently had an exhibit up at The Capitol Theatre Art Gallery in Moncton. Read an article about it here.
  • The Sixth Annual Culture Crawl series kicked off June 2nd. Check back often for more upcoming dates on this event!
  • Convocation will be happening Saturday, June 18th at 1pm at Centre Communautaire Sainte-Anne, followed by a reception and viewing of the Graduate Exhibit at Memorial Hall on UNB Campus.
  • Join us June 17th at 4:30pm in the Gallery for the opening of Feel It, an exhibit featuring work from our graduates of the Advanced Studies Program.
  • Students from our Aboriginal Visual Arts program will be involved in selling their work at this year's powwow in St. Mary's. Read an article about it here.
  • Barb Hunt, textile artist and faculty member at Memorial University of Newfoundland, will be coming by the College Wednesday, June 15th to give an Artist Talk in room 4003. East door entrance opens at 6:30pm, talk starts at 7pm.
  • The Graduate Exhibit opening for Diploma students is taking place on Saturday, June 11th at 2pm at Memorial Hall on UNB Campus.

  • An exhibition of 1st year photography work opened Tuesday, April 26th, at City Hall.
  • Current gallery exhibition Feats of Clay in the news.
  • Feats of Clay, a showcase of current, graduating and alumni ceramics work, opened on Wednesday, April 20th in the NBCCD Gallery. The exhibit will run until June 5th.

  • Multicultural Association of Carleton County hosted a traditional art workshop for members
  • Stop by for our open house on May 7th from 10am to 4pm. Take a tour, meet our Instructors, or even apply for fall classes!

  • Alumni, Rebecca MacKenzie, and Paula Morand, talked about the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 2011 Red Dress Gala.

  • We invite you to check out the latest Silverfish exhibition, called "One", at Old Government House April 11-May 27. Participants include staff, students and alumni of the photography program at NBCCD.
  • The college recently hosted a visit from Heartwood College of Art. We are excited to continue exploring possibilities for a partnership.

 

March 2011


  • The college hosted another Apple Canada event on Thursday, March 27th. 
  • Thursday, March 17, the NBCCD gallery celebrated the grand opening of "Withdrawal" - a photographic exhibition by 3 of our graduating students: Monica Lacey, Brody Leblanc and Rachael Flett.
  • III - a graduating photography student exhibition opened at the City Hall Gallery Wednesday, March 30th.
  • Congratulations to photography students Jessica Pattison, Anne-Marie Rolfe and Robyn Guptill for their recent accomplishments in the Bridgestone Photo Contest. See their winning work here.
  • Congratulations to our very own Craig Schneider for being selected by the City of Fredericton to construct a wall mural for the new downtown convention center.
  • A summary of the College’s comprehensive 3-year Business Plan is now available
  • Advanced Studies student Celine Gorham hosted a community-based art project in Fredericton.
