Dates: Oct 15th
The
Gallery at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design invites you to
‘Journey into Whatever: an exhibition of local and transnational
drawings' featuring the work of curators Adam MacDonald, Joey Haley and a
plethora of drawings in a salon style hanging that embodies the
creative enterprise of over thirty new works from local, national and
international artists.
The work of Adam Macdonald illustrates
nature in distress; eerily defined expressions of biological matter in a
sate of altered regeneration. Almost recognizable in an age of ecocide.
Joey Haley’s pieces evoke fear; psychological engagements that
constrict and capture, figurative narratives that inhabit a dystopia
stylized of hauntological frameworks.
The salon hanging stands
to inspire like minds, fostering natural inclinations towards mark
making and perhaps offering a window to a local artist who may wish to
transcend national markets and escape localized understandings of fine
art. The artists involved are interdisciplinary and broadcast
sensibilities that should encourage new artists to recognize the
relevance of their culturally etched nuances. The show includes such
names as Jason Mclean, Matt Lock, Laura Piasta, Mark Delong and
Elizabeth Huey, all young artists who are currently experiencing
international exposure.
Adam MacDonald has exhibited nationally and works as an instructor at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design.
Joey Haley is based out of Fredericton; he is a fine artist who exhibits internationally.
Come to The Gallery between 5 pm and 7 pm Thursday, October 7, 2010 for
the grand opening of Journey into Whatever, and join us in this
celebration of drawing. Opening Reception. Everyone Welcome.
This project was produced with assistance from the New Brunswick Arts Board.
