Michael holds a Diploma from Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Tufts University and a Master of Fine Arts from York University. Appointed Principal and Academic Dean in 2007, he brought his previous administrative experience as Associate Dean at Sheridan Institute and Founding Director of the School of Design at George Brown College. Michael has worked as a graphic designer for private and public television in the USA and Canada, he taught design and photography at Georgian College for 13 years, and he ran his own Toronto design firm, winning awards in Canada, the USA and Asia. He has served as President of the Canadian Crafts Federation and President of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada (GDC). In 1994 he was elected a GDC Fellow for his “major contribution to graphic design in Canada”.
